Vtrasm 3
A radical redesign of the transmission assembly, reducing mechanical friction and optimising the drive torque curve for next-generation powertrains.

The research problem
Traditional mechanical systems based on the connecting-rod and crank mechanism use a structure made up of several coordinated mechanical elements.
Vtrasm 3 was created to explore an alternative, simpler configuration, reducing the number of parts required by the system architecture.
Objectives
- Develop an alternative to the traditional connecting-rod and crank system.
- Reduce the complexity of the mechanical architecture.
- Build a solution made up of just two main parts.
- Assess the efficiency and applicability of the new mechanical configuration.
- Protect the developed solution through the patenting process.
Results
The project led to the development of a simplified mechanical architecture made up of two parts.
The solution is currently going through the patenting process.
